An Invitation

With my hand extended

I invite you,

for the briefest of moments,

to nurture with me

this delicate warmth.

With your meeting of my searching fingertips,

we open ourselves to the velvet fold of flesh on flesh,

skin and bone tenderly entwined.

With my outstretched hand

I offer the hope of enfolding within our private world,

the fanciful weaving

of music and motion and Sacred Presence.

I commit to you, my partner, (for at least three minutes!),

my strength, my devotion, my admiration.

I will not stop to correct.

I will not try to impress with learned steps.

I will not judge

except to esteem you as all I desire in a dance partner.

With my open hand

I offer you nothing

but this delicate thread of vulnerability

that binds us both in the desire to be touched.
